FuneralsThe death of a loved one is always difficult and the clergy of the parish are available to meet and pray with you, and to assist in the planning of a funeral service, whether in church or at a local crematorium. It is an honour for us to accompany you during this time, and to offer a place of hospitality and welcome. Funeral and memorial services at St. John's or Holy Innocents' are Christian in character, but are shaped around the life of the person we are giving thanks for. We are very happy to help you plan a service that is just right for you and the loved one who has died. Such services honour the very real grief that comes when someone we love, or struggle to love, has died, but are also characterised bythanksgiving and even joy, as we celebrate both the person's life and our faith that nothing can separate us from the eternal love of God.
St John's has an open churchyard, where loved ones can be buried or have their ashes interred. If you are thinking of interring ashes, or scattering them elsewhere in the locality, we would be happy to offer simple prayers at that time if you should wish it. |
